AbstractVisando a determinação do potencial eólico mensal e anual, distribuições de Weibull, Log-Normal e Beta foram ajustadas aos dados horários de velocidade e velocidade cúbica do vento em Panorama, SP (2000-02). Foram feitas avaliações comparativas dos ajustes, com os parâmetros das distribuições obtidos pelo método da máxima verossimilhança, usando os testes c2 e KS, além de gráficos das probabilidades acumuladas teóricas e empíricas e dos percentis. Verificou-se que a distribuição Beta foi a que melhor se ajustou à maioria dos conjuntos de velocidade do vento (13/14). As distribuições de Weibull e Log-Normal foram as que melhor se ajustaram aos conjuntos de velocidade cúbica do vento (8/14 e 6/14, respectivamente). As estimativas de potência baseadas nos ajustes da distribuição Log-Normal foram sistematicamente superiores (~40%) às feitas pela distribuição de Weibull. ABSTRACT: Aiming at the determination of monthly and annual wind power, Weibull, Log-Normal and Beta distributions were fitted to hourly wind speed and wind speed cubed in Panorama, SP, Brazil (2000-2002). Comparative evaluations of fits, with distributions parameters obtained by the maximum likelihood method, were done using c2 and KS tests, besides theoretical and empirical cumulated probability plots and percentils plots. It was verified that the Beta distribution was the best fitted to the majority of wind speed sets (13/14). The Weibull and Log-Normal distributions were the best fitted to the wind speed cubed sets (8/14 and 6/14, respectively). The wind power estimates based on the Log-Normal distribuition fittings were sistematically superior (~40%) to those done by the Weibull distribution.
